From Pain Comes Light
I’ve been thinking a lot about my latest post, the dark one. I know that the story, and the emotions, were intense, and difficult to read, and something that you can’t really unsee. I know that it leaves you holding onto something that you weren’t holding before, and perhaps wondering, “Why in the world would she do that, put that out there for all to see???”
Here’s why I decided to make public something so intensely private: because darkness has a way of swallowing you up, of making you feel like you’re something you’re not, not lovable, not worthy, not you. Within my story there is pain, shame, and the warping of one's identify, but there is also resurrection, reclamation, beauty, and pride. I was able to fill the empty space left by the people that hurt me and become whole again; and I want people to know that if I can do it, they can, too.
I want to shine the light on the darkness, because in doing so we minimize its hold. There are people everywhere who have experienced, on some level, what I have, and I want them to see this, and feel, first, their own trauma expressed through mine, and then, their own power to heal from it. Not just to heal, as in recover, but to live a beautiful, empowered life.
So, please share my post with others. Let them know that they aren’t alone, and that there is a way through their pain to the other side..
